BACK TO THE PORTAGE LUMBER BOYCOTT MAIN PAGE Below is the final letter to Dennis Dorn, signed by seven pastors. It is now in the hands of Jim Murphy, pastor of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Portage, which is where Dennis attends. Jim Murphy is going to hand deliver it to Dennis Dorn within a couple days. Read also the transcript of my phone conversation with Dennis Dorn. You can read my letter to the pastors here. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * September 26, 2008 We understand that on July 14, 2008, during a telephone conversation with Charles Charpentier, director of Frontline Ministries of Wisconsin, you stated that you approve of birth control because there are so many unfed, unclothed and uneducated children. Since Planned Parenthood encourages the use of and provides birth control, Mr. Charpentier told you that certain birth control methods cause abortions, in that they prevent the fertilized egg (a human life) from being implanted in the uterus. When you told Mr. Charpentier that no medical procedures are performed at Planned Parenthood's Portage office, Mr. Charpentier informed you that the Portage Planned Parenthood office does in fact refer clients to abortion clinics in other cities in order for abortions to be performed. Furthermore, Mr. Charpentier explained to you that the Catholic catechism, in paragraph 2272, states that "Formal cooperation in an abortion constitutes a grave offense. The Church attaches the canonical penalty of excommunication to this crime against human life." Although we do not presume to know the official interpretation of this passage of the Catechism, it is our opinion that you are in fact cooperating in "this crime against human life" by providing office space to Planned Parenthood, an organization which has no righteous regard for the unborn. We understand that you are Roman Catholic, and we believe that you should know better than to be complicit in these horrific crimes against God and against innocent unborn children. We are requesting a response from you by October 3, 2008. If we do not hear from you, we will assume that you have no intention of ending your business relationship with Planned Parenthood (murderers of the unborn), and, although we hope to avoid this, we will encourage our congregations—and others we come in contact with—to boycott Portage Lumber and any other businesses in which you may have an interest. Please, do the right thing; stop renting office space to Planned Parenthood. Help ban this evil organization from Portage. |
